Thunder is rolling out . . .

Thunder has left the building … er, stable.

The unusually friendly 2,000-pound steer had been a four-year resident of the Methuen MSPCA at Nevins Farm. Visitors to the farm and passers-by on adjacent Route 213 are familiar with the hefty black and white bovine lounging in the corral.

Now a cattle-drive has taken Thunder, 8, to Farm Sanctuary of Watkins Glen, N.Y.

According to MSPCA Community Outreach Coordinator Heather Robertson, the sanctuary is a vegan operation in which animals are guaranteed they don’t end up as food.

“Part of our adoption contract is that they don’t go to slaughter. So we’re excited about that,” said Robertson. “He will have cow friends, a little herd.”

Thunder dines on plenty of hay and enjoys the occasional carrot treat.
