The Rangerland Preschool, located at Methuen High, recently had an up-close experience with some wild and crazy creatures. Michelle’s Menagerie of Londonderry, N.H., showed off critters including a hedgehog, ferret, skunk, tarantula, chinchilla, parrot, silkie chicken, turtle and a king snake. The 11 preschoolers and 10 teacher assistants (second-year students) learned about these American animals’ habitats, habits and special body features. For example, Chilanna the Chinchilla rolls in the sand to take a bath, Odora the Skunk likes to eat scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast, and counting the lines on Tina the Turtle’s shell proves that she is 24 years old.
